Living with a chronic condition as a nutritionist

Can I talk about imposter syndrome for a bit? I know we’ve all felt it at one point or another in our lives - that feeling of being inadequate or like we’re faking our awesomeness.

Being a functional nutritionist with a chronic condition is wild and is definitely a growing experience each day. If I listened to everything I see on social media, I should be able to fix my issues, right? I should be able to heal my condition with nutrition, lifestyle changes, and supplements - right?

WRONG.

Now, I cannot imagine how severe my symptoms would be if I didn’t have a firm nutritional foundation and healthy habits. I know that my habits and food choices definitely help my quality of life, but I am not disillusioned to think that nutrition and lifestyle will 100% cure it.

I can support my body and mitigate the symptoms, but I cannot think that I can completely cure my condition - especially since it’s genetic. This is exactly how I approach my work with clients - supporting the body, addressing symptoms and improving quality of life.

While I may have killer imposter syndrome on days that I’m flared up, having a functional nutritionist that uniquely understands the rollercoaster of chronic illness, the flares, and the exhaustion that comes with appointments, daily life, and the stress of managing multiple doctors … I’m your gal.
